About this video
Executing a back take when facing difficulty in completing a sweep from the Reverse De la Riva with a Twister hook:
- Begin by spinning underneath your opponent and passing their leg onto your hook to establish the Twister hook and secure your grips.
- If you find it challenging to lift your opponent due to their weight distribution, focus on obtaining control of their collar. Open the collar while keeping your other arm underneath their leg, maintaining pressure.
- With control of the collar, close your forearm behind your opponent's back to restrict their ability to rotate towards your legs or head.
- Maintain control and start to build your base by making your hook strong and getting up on your toes, creating torquing pressure on your opponent.
- Proceed to sit your knee through behind their back and hook underneath their arm to initiate the back take.
- If you are unable to move your opponent, adjust by moving around them. Ensure the lapel is sufficiently exposed to close your elbow behind their back.
- Keep your arm shallow to prevent your opponent from leaning into your armpit, which could compromise your position.
- As you get up, repulse and sit through, curl your knee in, secure the seatbelt grip, and extract your foot to establish hooks and complete the back take.
