About this video
Initiate the Reverse De la Riva sweep by establishing a hook inside the opponent's hip and controlling underneath your knee. Place your foot on the opponent's shoulder and secure grips on their collar and sleeve.
- Off-balance the opponent by pushing their arm into their hip and your foot into their shoulder, extending your arm to create space.
- When the opponent reacts to regain balance, pull them across your body and rock back, loading them onto your shins.
- Position your foot under their knee, look over your shoulder, and execute the sweep by kicking your legs back.
- Immediately transition into a Kimura attack as you come up from the sweep.
- Consider the grips on the collar and sleeve as leverage points, like pushing the bottom of a stick with the sleeve grip while using your arm and leg to tilt and sweep the opponent.
- As the opponent tries to recover, load them up and complete the sweep, then secure the Kimura grip.
