About this video
Executing the platform armbar from the Reverse De La Riva position:
- When your opponent reaches for an underhook while you're in Reverse De La Riva, do not let your body follow if you can't close the distance.
- If your opponent reaches for the underhook, grab their arm with a C-grip at the elbow.
- Place your foot on their hip and the other foot on their back, clamping down.
- Close your elbow to apply pressure through their elbow and rotate your hips up and underneath to secure the armbar.
- If your opponent turns their shoulder down to escape, transition immediately to an omoplata.
- For the omoplata, place one foot on top of the other and push underneath their face to break them down.
- Control their back and close your elbow to prevent them from rolling out.
- Cross your feet, scoop your hips back, and bring your chest forward to switch your legs into a strong finishing position.
- Maintain a grip over their back and keep your elbow closed to secure the omoplata.
- Grab their collar, bring your knee to the mat, and finish the submission.
Be ready to transition to this armbar when your opponent digs for an underhook, and use the rotation of your hips to secure the finish.
