About this video
Executing a spinning back take from the Reverse De La Riva position begins by pushing the opponent and spinning underneath to get into position. Control the opponent's leg by underhooking and grabbing your own leg, while the other hand secures the far pant sleeve of the opponent.
- Circle your foot through to the inside, aiming to hook just below the opponent's knee, not at the knee itself, to prevent them from planting their foot and stopping the motion.
- Reach up to grab the opponent's hip and turn your knee inward, creating a lock on their leg by pinching your knee and applying outward pressure with your foot.
- While maintaining your grips, pull the opponent's hip down and simultaneously kick their leg out, causing them to lose balance as if slipping on a banana peel.
- Immediately after they fall, release the ankle grip and secure the opponent's shoulder to limit their rotation if they try to turn away.
- Complete the back take by throwing your hook over the top, establishing a seatbelt grip, and securing both hooks inside.
Use the opponent's momentum against them by pushing and spinning underneath to the Reverse De La Riva, then execute the technique by controlling the leg, circling the foot, and hooking below the knee. Pull the hip and kick the leg out to off-balance the opponent, secure the shoulder, and transition to the back with a seatbelt grip and hooks in place.
