About this video
Executing an arm drag to crotch lock and transitioning to a rear naked choke from the half guard shell:
- Maintain close proximity to the opponent, keeping the elbow close to the knee to prevent them from finding a way inside your frames.
- When the opponent attempts to go under your leg, possibly aiming for an over-under pass, shove their head to the side while moving your back away to avoid a crossface.
- With your free arm, reach underneath and secure a grip on the opponent's tricep.
- Use your leg as a pendulum to sit up, pulling on their arm, and immediately grab the opponent's foot to prevent them from retracting their arm.
- Reach behind the opponent's arm with your free arm to assist in standing up on your knee.
- Once up, decide whether to secure a seatbelt grip or opt for a crotch lock to potentially take the opponent's back.
- If choosing the crotch lock, you can pull the opponent's hip towards you to off-balance them.
- If the opponent fights your hands, control their wrist and forearm, staple their hips to the mat, and swing your leg over.
- Secure a 'police lock' on the opponent's arm, creating an opening to slide in for a rear naked choke, whether in gi or no-gi.
