About this video

From the collar sleeve reverse De La Riva position, when the opponent reaches for your collar, switch to a 2-on-1 grip on their far arm by grabbing the material along the seam.

  1. With the 2-on-1 grip secured, initiate a scissor sweep. Place the foot that's inside the opponent's arm like a spider hook onto their knee, curling your toes for grip.
  2. Do not attempt the sweep with just leg strength. Instead, turn your chest over towards the mat and start to pull on the opponent's arm to off-balance them.
  3. Use your whole body to extend and execute the sweep, which will topple the opponent as they have no base to prevent the fall.
  4. After completing the sweep, hook the opponent's heel to assist in pulling yourself up to the mount position.
  5. Remember to use your entire body to create the necessary momentum for the sweep, turning sideways and extending to make the technique effective.

Executing this scissor sweep from the reverse De La Riva with a 2-on-1 grip allows for a smooth transition to the mount and top control.
