About this video

Executing a berimbolo from the Reverse De La Riva position begins by spinning underneath the opponent to establish a long hook. When the opponent fights to turn and face you, transition by passing their leg under yours to your other hand while simultaneously securing their collar. This sets up the perfect angle for the berimbolo.

  1. Pull your knees to your chest and kick the opponent over, using their momentum to spin underneath.
  2. Ensure to pinch the opponent's leg tightly between your legs to maintain control and prevent them from escaping.
  3. Reach for the opponent's far leg, pull it across your body, and attempt to load it onto your hook.
  4. Once the leg is loaded, execute a sit out to transition to the opponent's back.
  5. If possible, immediately go for a choke by throwing your leg over their shoulder.
  6. The primary goal is to secure the back position, from which you can initiate further attacks.

Remember to maintain tight control throughout the berimbolo transition, ensuring that you spin enough so that your shin bites into the opponent's hip, which prevents under-rotation and creates a tighter grip on their leg. This control gives you the time needed to secure the far leg and complete the transition to the back.
