About this video

Executing a Leg Drag Pass against Reverse De La Riva involves maintaining a strong base and balance while the opponent is spinning underneath. The key steps are:

  1. Stay close to the opponent and ensure a good base to avoid feeling off balance.
  2. As the opponent spins underneath, bring your knee into the crook of their neck and shoulder to control their movement.
  3. Insert your arm inside of the opponent's leg and lean into it to pin them down to the mat.
  4. Hold onto the opponent's ankle, extend your leg, and hook your foot over the top of their leg.
  5. Grab onto the opponent's hip, stand back up, and use your grip to pull their hips down.
  6. Control the leg drag by securing the position and preparing to pass the guard.

It's crucial to prevent your legs from being too open, as this makes it easier for the top player to get inside and pin you down. If the top player manages to extend their leg and pin the bottom player's leg to the mat, it's a disadvantageous position for the bottom player and the pass is likely to succeed.
