About this video
Transition from a Reverse De La Riva sweep to a modified X-Guard sweep:
- Maintain a firm grip on the collar and reach under the opponent's leg to pull and guide them across your body.
- Lock your feet around the opponent's knee, creating a modified X-Guard with the knee trapped between the soles of your feet.
- Push the opponent out while rising to your feet, ensuring you maintain good posture with a straight spine to prevent them from pushing off your head.
- As you stand up, keep both hands over the top of the opponent's calf, clamping down and closing your elbow to control their leg.
- Circle around the opponent, maintaining pressure on their leg, and prepare to shoot across their body like a double leg takedown.
- Off balance the opponent by pushing their sleeve into their hips and lifting with your leg and Reverse De La Riva hook.
- Pull the opponent across your body and get underneath their leg.
- Sandwich the opponent's knee between your feet and push to stand up, keeping your head up throughout the motion.
- Upon standing, clamp your elbows down around their knee and keep the pressure as you circle to find the angle to drive across.
- Complete the sweep and look to secure the opponent in half guard.
