About this video
Executing an Arm Drag to take the back involves several steps:
- Begin by pushing the opponent's head to prevent a crossface and reach underneath their arm.
- Use your leg as a pendulum to swing around to the opponent's back, securing their ankle and positioning your arm inside for a crotch lock.
- If the opponent attempts to look over their shoulder and sit to escape, follow their movement.
- As the opponent turns, post your hand on the mat and roll over your shoulder.
- During the roll, aim to get your foot inside their ankle to control their leg and bring it to the floor.
- Once in position, apply the Police Lock and transition to finishing with a Rear Naked Choke.
- If the opponent starts to turn towards your back and sit, plant your hand and roll, attempting to control their wrist and forearm.
- Push the opponent's knee down and pull their forearm towards you to control their body and prevent rotation.
- Even with limited flexibility, you can usually insert your foot for the hook, using your leg against their hip to sit them up.
- Thread your arm through to secure the Rear Naked Choke and complete the submission.
