About this video
Overhead Sweep from Collar and Sleeve:
- Start with your training partner standing and establish a collar and sleeve grip.
- Place your foot on their hip, transitioning from the bicep. Ensure you stretch them out to maintain control and prevent guard passes.
- Push into their hips. If they drive weight back into you, pull your grips in and load your knees to your chest.
- With their hips over yours, direct them over the side where you have the sleeve grip.
- Practice the push, pull, load, and hold sequence to get comfortable with the balance and control.
- When ready, execute the sweep by performing a back roll over your left shoulder while they front roll over their right shoulder.
- Ideally, maintain your grips throughout the sweep. If you lose balance or land awkwardly, focus on getting back on top immediately.
- Repeat the sequence: stretch out, foot to hip, push, load, and back roll to mount.
