About this video
Executing an omoplata from the collar and sleeve guard:
- Start with your training partner on their knees. Stretch them out as if setting up for a triangle.
- Lift your hips and press your left knee down on their back while keeping your foot on their hip.
- Punch their hand into your back pocket and throw your leg over their back, locking a triangle over their shoulder.
- Immediately reach your left arm to their belt to maintain control and prevent them from posturing up.
- Squeeze your legs and bite your heels down to secure the position.
- Bring your knees and ankles together, then rock up to your butt by pulling your knees towards your chest and extending your legs.
- Post your hand on the mat, scoot your butt back, and weigh heavy on their shoulder with your legs.
- Scoot your hips out and pull them flat to their belly to limit their defensive options.
- Fold your legs to the outside, keeping their elbow trapped by squeezing your knees tightly.
- Reach for a palm-to-palm or S-grip around their shoulder, sit forward, and bring their hand towards the back of their head to finish the submission.
