About this video
Connecting standard Ashi to X-Guard and executing a technical standup sweep:
- From the standard Ashi position, off-balance your training partner forward to shift their weight onto the far leg.
 - Pummel to a shadow hook, using it to push their hips away and keep their weight off you.
 - Support their knee with your forward hand while pummeling your backward hand underneath their leg to control the top of their knee.
 - Extend your foot on their near hip to make it difficult for them to backstep and pass your guard.
 - Extend your legs to sit up onto your elbow, placing your bottom foot inside their knee.
 - Continue extending your legs as you bring your top leg to the mat and come up to your hand.
 - Perform a technical standup by first coming up to your knee to maintain posture, then standing up fully.
 - Finish the sweep by reaching down for their ankle or pants, driving weight into their hips, and pulling the foot up to sweep them.
