About this video
1970s Disco Sweep from De La Riva guard:
- Switch from a collar grip to a sleeve grip on your opponent.
- If your opponent is grabbing your pants, break the grip by kicking your foot free and placing it on the inside of their thigh.
- Extend your leg to stretch your opponent out while pulling their sleeve and lifting their heel off the mat.
- As you extend your leg, sit up simultaneously to use the momentum for the sweep.
- Continue pulling the sleeve and maintaining your De La Riva hook to turn your opponent and knock them to their butt.
- Hold onto the grips, post your back leg, and come up to control their hips, potentially transitioning to a guard pass or back take.
