About this video

Executing triangles and omoplatas from the lasso position by inverting:

  1. Start with your training partner kneeling and establish a regular lasso.
  2. Transition from a shallow lasso to a regular lasso by rolling your toes underneath their armpit.
  3. Pass your foot to the side of their hip, tuck your elbow towards your side, and roll towards your shoulder.
  4. Place your foot on the mat and perform a knee lift by leaning towards your shoulder and pressing your toes into the mat.
  5. Open your knee wide while maintaining a tight grip on the lasso, then invert through their legs with a front roll.
  6. During the front roll, use your right hand to grip either their collar or elbow.
  7. As you roll through, lock the omoplata by back rolling.
  8. If your opponent postures up during the roll, continue lifting your hips to transition into a triangle.
  9. Repeat the process: from shallow lasso to regular lasso, tuck your elbow, roll towards your shoulder, and perform the knee lift.
  10. Invert through the open space under their armpit, catch their elbow, and either complete the omoplata or transition to a triangle if they posture up.
