About this video
When attacking the K-Guard against a standing opponent, it's crucial to maintain a sticky connection to prevent them from running away. Follow these steps to ensure control:
- Start with the elbow inside and holding above the opponent's knee.
- If the opponent starts to turn and run, bring their leg up onto your shoulder.
- Adjust your elbow outside your knee and grip right behind the Achilles.
- Bring their laces inside your ankle, pinch your knees, and think of securing the leg with a Rear Naked Choke grip.
- Even if you lose connection with your lower body, work to reconnect by using your bottom leg to push off the floor and hip heist over their leg.
- Focus on forcing their knee down to the floor to prevent them from running.
- Regain connection with the lower body and hook your foot around their far hip to maintain control.
- As you maintain control at the end of their leg, start climbing up, securing the far hip by weaving your foot through.
- Use the hip heist to either roll through for better control or force their knee down, which adds weight and control over their leg.
- The goal is to keep as many points of connection as possible, staying sticky and preventing the opponent from disengaging and escaping.
