About this video

Initiating an inversion to the backside 50/50 position begins from the established K guard. When the leg is passed across and the knee bar is threatened, the opponent's reaction is critical. If they turn and crowd in, an inversion can be created. This is done by inverting through onto the shoulders, leading to the backside 50/50 position.

  1. Start in K guard and pass the leg across to threaten with a knee bar.
  2. If the opponent drops to one knee and crowds around the corner, initiate an inversion.
  3. As the opponent crowds in, invert onto the shoulders to transition into the backside 50/50 position.
  4. If the opponent stands up to escape the knee bar, use the inversion to force the backside position.
  5. During the standing reaction, elevate the hips and turn, pulling through to complete the inversion.
  6. Both inversions, whether the opponent is on one knee or standing, facilitate entry into the backside 50/50 where attacks can be launched.

The knee bar serves as a catalyst for these inversions, dictating the opponent's response and allowing for transitions into advantageous positions.
