About this video

Initiating a knee bar from the K guard position can lead to a series of reactions from the opponent. When the opponent drops to one knee to prevent going backside, the knee bar is applied not necessarily to finish but to force a reaction.

  1. Secure the K guard and attempt the knee bar by throwing the leg over the opponent's trapped leg.
  2. As the opponent turns to relieve knee bar pressure, transition to a backside position.
  3. Weave the foot through to trap the opponent's second leg, aiming for a backside 50/50 position.
  4. Anticipate the opponent's back step to escape the knee bar.
  5. Transition to an X-guard, maintaining control of the second leg.
  6. Finish in a cross ashi garami, ensuring knee alignment and applying pressure into the opponent's foot for a strong finish.

This sequence leverages the knee bar threat to transition into advantageous positions, exploiting common defensive reactions.
