About this video
Counter the K-guard by exploiting the disconnect between your opponent's knee and elbow:
- Identify the disconnect between your opponent's knee and elbow as a point of failure in their K-guard.
- Throw your arm across your opponent's stomach to exploit this disconnect.
- Post your hand on your opponent's leg to prevent them from circling their leg over and regaining connection.
- Work to reconnect your own knee and elbow to establish a solid base.
- From this position, you can transition to Knee on Belly, leg drag positions, or side control.
- Throwing your arm across the stomach helps secure the disconnect and begins to shut down the K-guard.
- This action will force your opponent to react, either by turning away, which allows you to chase their back, or by turning into you, where you can work to establish a passing position.
- Remember to take advantage of any disconnect between your opponent's knee and elbow when countering the K-guard.
