About this video
Executing a kneebar from the 50/50 position when the opponent drops to a knee to prevent the backside position:
- Start in the K-guard position and as the opponent drops to a knee, pass your leg across into the 50/50 position.
- Use the 50/50 hook to help cut the angle, aiming to point the opponent's knee towards your hip.
- Hold the opponent's knee and connect your hips to theirs while ensuring your feet are locked with your heel towards the center.
- Prevent the opponent's hip from turning by creating a wedge underneath it with your legs.
- For the kneebar finish, grab your thigh closer to your hip, lock up your legs, and bridge through while closing your knee.
- Ensure the opponent's knee is pointed towards your hip, which is the breaking point for the kneebar.
- If the opponent tries to sit back to defend, your leg positioning should make it difficult for them to turn their hip.
- Finish the kneebar by closing your elbow and applying pressure.
This kneebar setup also opens up opportunities for heel hooks and other submissions.
