About this video

Initiating the roll, grips are established on the hands, transitioning into a De La Riva to off-balance the opponent and force them to a knee, setting up for a K guard entry. The opponent inverts, but control is maintained, and a sweep is threatened.

Throughout the roll, the focus is on pummeling to the inside and establishing a Reverse De La Riva to transition into K guard. Emphasis is placed on angling the hips parallel to the opponent's to prevent stacking and using entries to wrestle up from the bottom position.

Utilizing a cross grip to break the opponent down facilitates entry into K guard positions. Transitioning from K guard to a shadow axe and waiter's guard position allows for leg lock opportunities. Preference is shown for moving to outside Ashi rather than backside 50-50, using a scoop grip on the far leg to switch sides easily.

When the opponent defends well against leg locks by turning the knee, a calf slicer is presented as an alternative submission. If the opponent sits low, creating space with throw posts and frames is essential, along with pummeling the outside leg inside to avoid underhooks and maintain a dominant position.
