About this video
Stripping an opponent's grip on the ankles is crucial for establishing a connection and gaining control. To do this effectively:
- Consistently pummel and clear the grips on the ankles, denying the opponent the ability to control your feet from the outside.
- When the opponent follows your movement, seize the opportunity to establish a strong two-on-one control.
- Bring their hand towards the center, allowing your opposite hand to reach and secure the grip.
- Avoid sitting up and reaching across, as this can be difficult if the opponent has a strong grip and leaves your elbow far from your body.
- Prefer the baseball bat grip when on your back, as it allows for elevation and off-balancing, sending the opponent overhead.
- Use reverse egg beater motions to clear the grips, transitioning into a two-on-one grip as you do so.
- Place your foot on the opponent's hip, pulling in at an angle, aiming to bring your head towards their knee to enter a strong K-Guard position.
- As the opponent pulls their elbow to their body, use that motion to pull yourself in, but avoid staying square to them.
- Maintain the elbow position to prevent the opponent from separating your knee from your chest, keeping a strong structure to stay offensive.
By bringing the opponent's hand to the center and establishing control, you can transition into a favorable position and maintain offensive capabilities.
