About this video
Defending against the K-guard from the closed guard involves a proper stand-up technique to maintain control and prevent the opponent from inserting their knee. The key is to create a strong posture and stand up with the leg at an angle, not allowing the opponent's knee to get inside.
- Start by establishing a strong posture within the closed guard.
- When standing up, avoid a wide stance that allows the opponent's knee to enter.
- Stand with the leg at an angle to win the knee position and prevent the opponent from dipping their knee inside.
- Pinch your knees together to control the opponent's leg and maintain a tight position.
- Keep your elbow and hip down to further secure the leg and make it difficult for the opponent to move their knee to the floor.
- From this position, you can look to establish X-Grips and continue your guard pass or control strategy.
Winning the knee position is crucial to effectively defend against the K-guard and set up your own offensive movements.
