About this video

Maintaining a strong K-Guard position involves keeping a tight knee and elbow connection, which makes it difficult for the opponent to pass or sprawl out of the grip. Even if the opponent creates separation, it's crucial to maintain this structure.

  1. When in K-Guard, it's not necessary for the foot to be attached to the opponent's thigh to maintain a strong position.
  2. To clear the legs from an opponent's grip, follow the thumb line and circle the foot directly to the hip, reinforcing the K-Guard.
  3. Two points of connection are maintained with the arms, and a third point of connection is established with the foot at the opponent's hip.
  4. If the connection is lost, it can be re-established by extending the leg out or using the other foot to clear the grip.
  5. Once the foot is free, it can be placed on the hip to create a strong connection, ready to re-establish control or start attacking.
  6. It's important to keep the structure intact and understand how to respond when the opponent starts controlling the feet.
  7. Prevent the opponent from creating separation between the knee and chest by keeping the elbow inside the knee, ensuring a strong K-Guard foundation.
