About this video

Establishing elbow two-on-one control from a seated position involves winning the hand fight and using grips effectively. The sword grip, resembling holding a sword, is not ideal for pulling in but sets up the elbow two-on-one. When the opponent grabs the wrist, strip their grip and establish the sword grip, then climb to the elbow for control.

  1. Hand fight to win grip exchanges and establish a sword grip when the opponent crosses the center line to grab your wrist.
  2. Use the sword grip to transition to an elbow two-on-one control, pushing the opponent's wrist in while pulling their elbow towards you.
  3. As the opponent pulls their elbow back, use the moment to pull yourself in on an angle, maintaining wrist control as long as possible.
  4. Turn your wrist inward to stay connected and transition into a strong K guard position with active pinky toes and knees closing.
  5. Even if the opponent pushes your feet away, maintain elbow and knee connection to prevent guard passes and set up attacks.
  6. Strip grips by pulling at the thumb line and establish a sword grip, then transition to elbow two-on-one, pulling the elbow and pushing the wrist.
  7. When the opponent attempts to grab your feet, expose their elbow, roll your hand around it, and pull to strip their grip, establishing elbow two-on-one.
  8. Use the elbow two-on-one to pull in on an angle, catch the wrist, and secure a strong position to initiate the K guard.

Winning the hand fight is crucial, whether by initiating the sword grip or countering the opponent's grips, leading to the elbow two-on-one setup. When the opponent grabs your feet, use that as a cue to establish elbow two-on-one, focusing on pulling in on an angle to transition into the K guard.
