About this video

Executing the Aoki Lock from one knee involves a series of strategic movements to control the opponent's leg and secure the submission:

  1. When the opponent comes up to a knee, immediately shallow the leg that's on their side and keep the other leg tight to prevent them from smashing through.
  2. Use one hand to create a frame against the opponent while the other foot pummels underneath their thigh.
  3. Turn slightly to the inside hip and pop the heel into place, which can be assisted by pushing on the opponent's knee.
  4. Secure the grip on the opponent's leg right below the calf at the ankle, and reinforce this grip with the other hand if needed.
  5. Place the foot on the opponent's hip, pinch the knees together, and draw the shoulder blades back to prepare for the finish.
  6. Execute the submission by pinching the shoulder blades, taking the slack out of the opponent's leg, and performing a side crunch to create a twisting finish on the leg.
  7. Maintain the position of the knee to prevent the opponent from turning it inward and hiding the heel, which is crucial for a successful submission.

The technique focuses on controlling the opponent's leg movement and applying a twisting finish rather than a bridging finish to secure the Aoki Lock.
