About this video

Establishing the two-on-one grip to set up a single leg takedown:

  1. Use the two-on-one grip when your opponent has strong head control and you can't execute an elbow pass. The elbow pass works for medium-level collar ties, but for stronger grips, switch to the two-on-one.
  2. Always pull the opponent's elbow into you and ensure your other hand is active, either pinning the bicep or controlling the wrist.
  3. Turn your body and use your shoulder to push into your opponent's arm while reaching for their hand. Secure deep grips with your whole arm controlling their arm, keeping your head tight and hanging on them.
  4. To initiate the single leg, aim to get your opponent to step their leg forward. Use both grips to perform a stutter step and pull them down.
  5. Without releasing your grips, change levels and transition directly to the single leg. Use your shoulder to fold their arm into their leg as you scoop up the single leg.
  6. Maintain strong head positioning and ensure your shoulder traps their arm against their leg during the level change and single leg scoop.
