About this video
Executing a high crotch takedown from an underhook position:
- Start by establishing head control and an underhook. The underhook is crucial for this setup.
- Control your opponent's elbow, pulling it into your shoulder. Turn your hips and shoulders to shoot the underhook like an uppercut, ensuring your shoulder beats inside their elbow.
- Ensure your right leg is leading before shooting. If starting with a left leg lead, switch to a right leg lead dynamically by pushing, pulling, and circling your opponent.
- Maintain movement to avoid telegraphing your intentions. Push, pull, and circle to naturally position your right leg forward.
- For the high crotch shot, change your level and let your right hand slip off the head control. Lift the underhook while shooting your right hand deep into the high crotch position.
- Ensure proper alignment: your hip, head, and knee should be in a straight line, with your hand deep in the high crotch.
- Connect your hands for control. Focus on the setup and entry; finishes and chain wrestling techniques will be covered later.
- Practice the movement: head control, underhook, dynamic stance switching, level change, lift the underhook, and shoot the right hand deep.
