About this video
Transitioning from the over-under pass to the folding pass involves using the lobster claw grip around the opponent's shin, either over or under their leg. The over-leg grip facilitates a cleaner transition but is harder to secure.
- Apply heavy shoulder pressure on the opponent to lock their leg in place.
- If the opponent frames against the shoulder, preventing the application of pressure, keep the knees pinched together.
- Shift your weight forward and rotate your hips in the opposite direction of the trapped leg.
- Place your knee under the opponent's thigh, switch your hand position, and transition into the folding pass.
- Focus on transferring all weight into the upper body, making the legs light, while still pinching the knees to isolate the opponent's leg.
- If the opponent frames and attempts to escape, lift up into a tripod position, pinch the knees, and continue to rotate the hips.
- As the opponent's knee approaches the floor, switch the hand, step over, and attempt the folding pass again.
- Continue applying shoulder pressure and be prepared to step over the opponent's leg multiple times to secure the position.
- Be patient and persistent, making the opponent carry your weight, and trust in the effectiveness of the technique.
Combining these pressure passes requires a balance of weight distribution and timing, ensuring the opponent is worn down by the constant pressure and weight.
