About this video
Finishing the folding pass with the Frog Legs and Staple technique involves several key steps to secure side control:
- Start with grips on the collar and the backside, with chest and torso weight heavy on the opponent's femurs. Spread your legs and roll the insides of your heels towards the mat to achieve the Frog Legs position.
- Prevent the opponent from separating their knees by applying heavy pressure, making it energy-consuming for them to resist.
- Look to staple the opponent's legs together. If their feet are apart, use the Frog Legs and Staples to organize and control their legs.
- Roll your hip bone down on the side you're stapling and sprawl the corresponding leg back. Use your knee to bring the opponent's knees together.
- Curl your heel towards your buttocks and staple the opponent's legs together, trapping their feet between your toes and knees on the mat.
- Lift your front side leg and place your knee in the space behind the opponent's knees and in front of your backside knee.
- Relieve the staple and move your backside knee closer to the opponent's hip, creating a kickstand next to their lower back.
- As the opponent tries to turn into you, maintain tight control with your knees acting as kickstands under their back and hips.
- Transition into side control by pointing your elbow down into the mat, creating an underhook with leg pressure on the opponent's shoulder.
- Release the grip on the belt to make a cross face or a near-side underhook with a four-finger grip in the collar, depending on your preference.
- Ensure tight control by pinching your elbow and knee together on the opponent's hips, preventing them from escaping.
This technique emphasizes control and efficiency, allowing for a smooth transition to side control while minimizing the opponent's ability to resist or escape.
