About this video

Combining the Crazy Dog or Cross Grip passing with the Folding Pass involves controlling the opponent's leg and entering into a side control position. The Crazy Dog involves wrapping one arm around and grabbing the opponent's leg, while the Cross Grip has the leg outstretched.

  1. Control the opponent's collar and place your head on them, aiming to circle past their leg.
  2. Opponents often keep their knee high to push away and frame on the inside of your bicep, making it difficult to access side control.
  3. When applying the technique, melt over the opponent's outside leg to counter their framing and guard recovery attempts.
  4. Lean all your weight heavily into your hands and chest on their leg, and pick up your leg closest to the top of their leg.
  5. Allow your weight to work for you, laying it on the opponent to make them carry it, rather than driving into them.
  6. As you circle towards the head and the opponent frames, step your leg over, which naturally allows your chest to meld around the outside of their thigh.
  7. Use your shoulder as a pivot point when you land, to help in securing the position.

This approach emphasizes using your weight to control the opponent and smoothly transition into the Folding Pass, even against their defensive frames.
