About this video
Entering the Folding Pass from the Butterfly Hook in Half Guard:
- Start by making a Collar Grip at the opponent's chest line with the inside arm and grip the belt or pants with the outside arm to anchor.
- Initiate a Hip Sag by casting chest weight forward towards the opponent's far shoulder, making them carry more weight and straining the Butterfly Hook without loading hip weight into it.
- When the opponent tries to push away with the Butterfly Hook, slightly move the chest back and perform a Forearm Club by rowing elbows together, pushing hips forward, and leaning towards the shoulder.
- After the Forearm Club, use the shoulder as a pivot point and swing the arm out to grab the belt with a Four Fingers Forward Grip.
- Initiate a Shoulder Roll and Hip Sag, then rotate the hand to switch the grip for a tighter Shoulder Roll and Clamp.
- Transition to the Head to Head Position, pinch the elbow, and complete the pass.
- If not in Butterfly Half, create a similar orientation to trick the opponent into playing a Butterfly Half Guard position.
- Place the chest on the Butterfly Hook, control the collar and lower pant, lean shoulders forward, and drive off toes while keeping the hip sagged towards the mat and controlling the lower back.
