About this video

Executing an Ezekiel choke following a folding pass:

  1. After passing the guard with a folding pass, the opponent may create a frame on the side of your head and neck.
  2. Reach your backside arm to the opponent's bottom side shoulder and slide up to counter their framing.
  3. Shoot your inside arm deeper and grab four fingers in the sleeve of the opponent's gi.
  4. Lift your hand up before attempting the choke to create space, then make a fist for a stronger choke.
  5. Slide your knee up, hugging the opponent's body tight between your knees.
  6. Focus on retracting and shrugging your top shoulder rather than pushing down with the fist.
  7. Turn your choking arm's pinky down and shrug your shoulder to finish the choke.

Additional options include transitioning to a head and arm choke, an armbar, or mounted and side triangles if the opponent turns back into you.

The key principle is maintaining head and arm isolation to set up various submissions.
