About this video
After completing a folding pass and achieving a near full side control, secure a nearside underhook to prevent the opponent from turning into you. Use the following steps to transition to the mount:
- Place your hand on the opponent's belt and use your shoulder as a pivot to bring your hand up to their shoulder, securing a four-finger grip in the collar.
- Clamp your shoulder down on the opponent's shoulder and switch your head close to their head to restrict their movement.
- Lift your knee and place it on the opponent's hip, then slide it down to the mat while pinching your knees together.
- Sag your right hip towards the mat and slap the mat with your foot to slide into the mount position.
- If the opponent tries to catch your foot, it will be difficult for them, allowing you to easily finish in the mount.
- Use the knee-on-belly position to steer the opponent's hips away if they attempt to turn into you, making it easier to take the mount.
- Keep your arm tight, reach up to make the collar grip, and clamp the opponent's shoulder with your hand and shoulder, placing your head next to theirs.
- Post up and put weight into your forehead to maintain control and prevent the opponent from regaining half guard, facilitating the transition to the mount.
