About this video

Overcoming the common counter of framing on the knee or hip during the folding pass:

  1. When the opponent frames on your lower extremity to block your advance, recognize this as an opportunity to step to mount.
  2. Grab the bottom surface of their arm, aiming for the seam of the sleeve rather than the wrist to avoid entanglement and grip fighting.
  3. Loop your elbow underneath their arm, using the strength of your back to break their grip instead of trying to lift at the arm itself.
  4. Drive your weight forward, loop your elbow under, lift with your elbow and chest, and place your knee in the space created.
  5. Switch your head position as needed and crawl your backside arm to an underhook to secure the position.
  6. If the opponent has a strong grip on your knee or hip, slide your hand under their tricep, grip the seam of the sleeve, and use your forearm to create surface area contact with their arm.
  7. Lift with your elbow and chest while driving your knee down to break their grip and place your knee close to their hip.
  8. Secure an underhook with your free arm and step over to mount, completing the pass.

It's crucial to use the forearm to maximize contact with the opponent's arm, making it easier to lift and break their grip, allowing for a smooth transition to mount.
