About this video
Passing the X-Guard involves a series of steps to maintain base and control:
- Maintain a strong base by bending both knees.
- Control the opponent's pants with one hand and their sleeve with the other hand, ensuring their shoulder is off the mat.
- Initiate by pushing your hips forward to create pressure.
- As the opponent reacts, pull your hips back while simultaneously pushing their knee down and away.
- Follow the opponent's movement to maintain pressure and control.
- Transition from controlling the sleeve to grabbing the belt.
- Change your base by scissoring your legs, which allows you to switch sides.
- Release the leg control and secure control over the opponent's hips, establishing side control.
This sequence effectively neutralizes the X-Guard and allows for a smooth transition to a dominant side control position.
