About this video

When facing an opponent playing X-Guard, establish a strong base and momentarily forget about the legs. It's crucial to avoid keeping both legs straight as this gives the opponent the chance to recover or sweep.

  1. Control the opponent's legs slightly to prevent them from moving freely.
  2. Use the left hand to control the opponent's legs, ensuring a firm grip.
  3. Bring the right leg down to the top of the opponent's stomach, placing your waist over their neck to secure the position.
  4. Shift your weight to the right, placing your hand on top of your stomach for balance.
  5. Jump your left leg over to the other side, landing in a controlled position.
  6. When turning your leg inwards, make sure your waist is properly positioned over the opponent's neck.
  7. As you jump your leg over, push your right leg slightly downwards to aid the movement.
  8. After completing the jump, maintain control of the opponent's legs, placing your weight down and securing side control.
