About this video

Executing a half guard pass involves a series of precise movements to secure control and transition to a dominant position. Begin by using your right hand to control the opponent's lapel, pulling it out to create leverage. Once the lapel is out, ensure your right knee is raised to pin the opponent's arms, effectively blocking their movement and forcing them back.

  1. Control the opponent's lapel with your right hand and pull it out to create space.
  2. Make sure to raise your right knee, placing it on top of the opponent's arms to block them and push them back.
  3. Instead of reaching deep for the leg, grab lower on the leg to maintain control.
  4. Pass your knee over the opponent's biceps and then onto their armpit area, applying downward pressure to keep them pinned.
  5. Control your right knee by bringing it towards you, and at the same time, hop your knee down to apply pressure.
  6. As you pull your knee down, simultaneously pass it over the opponent's knee to secure the pass.

This sequence of movements ensures that you maintain control over the opponent's upper body while transitioning your knee to pass their guard, leading to a successful half guard pass.
