About this video
Executing a De La Riva guard pass with an arm trap involves a series of precise grips and movements:
- Start by making the same grips as the previous pass: control the opponent's pants and collar.
- Step over the opponent's leg and begin to cut your knee across their thigh, ensuring your elbow is closed to prevent their leg from coming inside.
- Pass your hand under the opponent's arm, bringing their arm towards you, and keep your left forearm on top of your thigh for control.
- Transition your right hand to control the opponent's collar deeply, with your palm facing up.
- Push the opponent's arm down and bring your knees together to attempt a mount.
- If the opponent blocks the mount, open your right elbow to force them to look away and start cutting your knee across their body.
- Pass your left knee over the opponent's body, trapping their right arm underneath.
- Finally, control the opponent's head and arm, and establish a side control position.
Throughout this technique, maintain tight control and be prepared to adjust your grips and body position in response to the opponent's defenses.
