About this video

Executing a De La Riva guard pass with an arm trap involves a series of precise grips and movements:

  1. Start by making the same grips as the previous pass: control the opponent's pants and collar.
  2. Step over the opponent's leg and begin to cut your knee across their thigh, ensuring your elbow is closed to prevent their leg from coming inside.
  3. Pass your hand under the opponent's arm, bringing their arm towards you, and keep your left forearm on top of your thigh for control.
  4. Transition your right hand to control the opponent's collar deeply, with your palm facing up.
  5. Push the opponent's arm down and bring your knees together to attempt a mount.
  6. If the opponent blocks the mount, open your right elbow to force them to look away and start cutting your knee across their body.
  7. Pass your left knee over the opponent's body, trapping their right arm underneath.
  8. Finally, control the opponent's head and arm, and establish a side control position.

Throughout this technique, maintain tight control and be prepared to adjust your grips and body position in response to the opponent's defenses.
