About this video
Passing the Spider Guard involves controlling the opponent's legs and maintaining a strong posture to prevent submissions such as triangles and omoplatas. The following steps outline the process:
- Control the opponent's legs by placing your leg behind theirs to prevent them from establishing the Spider Guard.
- Keep your legs straight and your weight slightly back to avoid being caught in submission attempts.
- Push the opponent's leg with your leg and simultaneously pass your hand around their leg to control it.
- Place your leg below the opponent's and push down, then control their legs again.
- After securing control of their leg, jump back and at the same time, place the opponent's other leg under your leg.
- Jump back again, placing both of the opponent's legs on top of your leg, and close your arms to secure the legs.
- Release one leg with your left hand and touch your leg to the ground as you jump back, controlling the opponent's head.
- Keep the opponent's leg under control with your left hand, then you can let go of the legs and maintain control.
- Finally, put your weight back, touch your foot to the ground, and move to the side, jumping over the opponent's leg to establish side control.
