About this video
Passing the Reverse De La Riva guard involves a series of steps to effectively control and neutralize the opponent's legs.
- Begin by placing your hand on the opponent's leg and turning your arm inside their leg, ensuring your hand is on top of their thigh to block it.
- Your left hand comes over their leg while you start to pull their leg down slightly.
- Extend your right hand and simultaneously turn your leg inward, cutting your leg below theirs.
- Make sure to connect your leg over theirs and then jump over to the other side.
- As you jump, change your base and look to control their leg.
- Keep pressure on their leg and when you change base, the opponent will likely give their leg back to you.
- Once you've secured the position, release their legs and apply the belt grip to maintain control.
- Remember to place your leg inside theirs and your hand on top of their thigh.
- Your left hand controls their leg while you extend your leg slightly and press theirs down.
- After cutting below their leg, make a big jump over their head as they turn towards you.
- Turn your base and either control the belt or bring their leg towards you to control from the side.
These steps allow for a smooth transition from defending the Reverse De La Riva to gaining a dominant position.
