Knee Smash Pass variation from the De La Riva guard:

  1. Start by controlling the opponent's pant grip near the lower belly area and the sleeve on the same side.
  2. Step over the opponent's leg with your right leg, shifting your weight underneath and controlling the outside of their pants.
  3. Pull the pants inward and place your belly on the opposite side to disrupt their grip, sliding your hand to control their feet.
  4. Move your head down and place your left foot, disrupting their feet, then step your right foot to the right side.
  5. As you turn your body, control the opponent's head and pass your left foot over their leg to the mat.
  6. With your left hand, control the opponent's pants on the far side and push down, lifting your left foot slightly and then placing it back down.
  7. Stabilize your control on the side by transitioning your right hand to grip the collar, letting go of the pant grip, and standing up.
  8. Insert your left foot between the opponent's legs and keep it elevated.
  9. Control the opponent's pants with your right foot while turning your body and passing your left foot over their leg to the mat.
  10. Ensure your left foot is not trapped by the opponent; if it is, you cannot pass.
  11. After passing your left foot over, come back with your right hand to control the pants, push their leg down, and place your left foot on the mat beside their feet.
  12. Finally, apply pressure and establish side control.
