About this video
Knee Smash Pass variation from the De La Riva guard:
- Start by controlling the opponent's leg and head while in the De La Riva guard.
- Change your grip to control the outside of the opponent's leg.
- As you pull the opponent's leg towards you, move your head to the opposite side to avoid their defenses.
- Trap the opponent's leg under your armpit, using your triceps to block their movement.
- Transition your left hand down to control the opponent's leg from the outside.
- While controlling the leg, if the opponent attempts to escape, they will be restricted by your grip.
- Bring your left leg back and place it behind the opponent's legs, keeping your legs together.
- Shift your head to the other side to prepare for the pass.
- Pass your right leg over the opponent's leg and pull it forward to complete the pass.
- After securing the leg, jump to the opposite side to finalize the pass.
- Control the opponent's head, slide your hand under their leg, connect your hands together, and stabilize the position.
