About this video
Addressing a scenario where the opponent counters the berimbolo by scooting away after being knocked down, a strategy is presented to capitalize on the situation by transitioning to a leg drag position.
- Begin by knocking the opponent down to their butt, maintaining control of their collar and belt to keep them close.
- Switch the grip from the collar to the belt with the right hand, using the left hand as reassurance to maintain control.
- Release the right hand from the belt and grip the bottom of the opponent's pants.
- Lift the opponent's leg while swimming the right leg to the inside to set up for the leg drag.
- As you lift the opponent's leg, start coming up on top, transitioning to your knees.
- Drive your knee to the mat, keeping your knees pinched tight to the opponent's hips.
- Control the opponent's collar with your hand, keeping your elbow inside to prevent them from bringing their knee in, and maintain a low head position.
- Secure the leg drag position, establishing a dominant control over the opponent.
This technique provides an effective alternative to spinning underneath an opponent who is actively retreating, allowing for a quick transition to a top position and control.
