About this video
Counter to an opponent's pant grip in the crab ride position:
- When the opponent grips your pants, immediately address it to prevent being pulled into a 50/50 position or a leg lock setup.
- Reach across with your right hand to grip their sleeve, breaking their grip on your pants and pulling towards you.
- Keep your shin glued to the back of their knee and maintain the sleeve grip tight to their hip.
- With your left hand on their belt, kick your feet upward and pull their hip towards you to expose their back.
- Stay under their hip, maintaining grips, and sit up while kicking again to further expose their back.
- Without releasing the grips, transition to taking the back by securing the seatbelt grip.
- Keep your feet flexed outward to prevent the opponent from scrambling away as you set your hooks in place.
- Avoid getting caught in the 50/50 position by breaking the opponent's grip and using it to control their movement.
- Once in a seated position with the back exposed, immediately secure the seatbelt grip and then insert the hooks to establish back control.
