About this video
Transitioning to a leg drag from a berimbolo when unable to get underneath the opponent's hips:
- Initiate the berimbolo setup by knocking the opponent down and choosing to grip either the collar or the belt.
- If struggling to execute the berimbolo or preferring to pass, reach across for the opponent's hip.
- Create space by pumping the left leg up slightly and slide the right shin behind the opponent's knee.
- Circle the opposite leg inside and pull the opponent towards you using the grip on their pants, turning onto your right shoulder to face them.
- Reach for the opponent's belt, clamp down on their hip, and kick their leg out to create space.
- Start coming up on top, reaching for the collar, and placing your knee on the mat to drive your weight forward into a leg drag position.
- Control the opponent's hip or belt first before reaching for the collar to avoid overextension and loss of control.
- Drive your left knee to the mat on the side you're dragging towards, keep your head low, control the opponent's back, and maintain a pinched knee position to secure the leg drag.
