About this video
Initiate a berimbolo with a knockdown from the De La Riva guard by utilizing the foot on the hip to bridge and off-balance the opponent:
- Start in the De La Riva guard with grips on the collar and ankle, and the foot on the hip.
- Widen the opponent's base slightly for better positioning.
- Bridge onto the left shoulder using the foot on the hip for elevation.
- Shoot the left leg across the opponent's thigh as far as possible.
- Bring the weight back down, hooking the right foot behind the opponent's leg.
- For the knockdown, either pull on the collar or slide the foot down to the opponent's ankle.
- Kick the left foot out to the left and the right foot to the right to bring the opponent to the mat.
- Once the opponent is down, bring your feet back to their hips to prepare for the berimbolo.
- Go inverted and proceed with berimbolo attacks.
Maintain grips throughout the process and adjust the technique based on leg length, using the shoulder bridge as necessary to facilitate leg positioning.
