About this video
Transitioning to the crab ride position as a pit stop during a berimbolo sequence offers control and multiple options. Begin by knocking down the opponent using a preferred method such as push and pull, stepping over, or deep De La Riva. After the knockdown, instead of immediately spinning underneath, switch to the crab ride position for better control.
- Hold onto the opponent's collar or switch to gripping the belt, which is often preferred for more control.
- Spin under while keeping the head close to the opponent's hip, reaching for the far leg.
- Lift the left leg slightly and swim the right hook inside to secure the crab ride position.
- Control both hips with one hand on the belt and the other on the pants, maintaining equal control on both sides.
- From this position, explore transitions to twister hook positions, back takes, leg drags, and other options.
- Use the crab ride as a reset point to assess and decide on the next move, keeping the opponent guessing.
- Ensure both shins are on the back of the opponent's knees for control, and if needed, grip the belt with both hands to prevent the opponent from escaping.
- Stay tight to the opponent, keeping their hips close to your shoulder, and be ready to transition to other techniques if one approach fails.
This pit stop position in the crab ride allows for a moment to settle and choose the best subsequent attack while maintaining a strong control over the opponent.
