About this video
Transitioning to a leg clamp position when the Twister hook is difficult to maintain:
- Start by going inverted and attempt to establish a Twister hook.
- If the opponent has heavy legs or is adept at escaping the Twister hook, it may be challenging to maintain control.
- Instead of persisting with the Twister hook, switch your grip from the opponent's leg to their pant leg.
- Open your legs slightly and shoot them across to clamp both of the opponent's legs above the thighs, either locking in a figure-four or crossing your feet.
- Roll back onto your knees, maintaining the leg clamp, which provides various options for progression.
- To transition to the mount, secure upper body control by reaching for the head and arm, then walk your way up while keeping your legs clamped tightly.
- Ensure you clamp above the opponent's knees for better control and to prevent them from wiggling free.
- Keep your knees pinched, toes close together, and heels flat on the mat to maintain tight control and hinder the opponent's hip escapes and guard replacement.
