About this video
Executing a calf slicer from the Twister Hook position offers an alternative to taking the back. Maintain tight control by keeping feet on the hips and head close to the opponent's hip. Establish the Twister Choke control, clamping down and securing the leg.
- Instead of crossing feet, post the foot on the inside of the knee to create a stronger base.
- Grab the opponent's ankle or toes with the outside arm and pull towards your body.
- Be cautious with the inside arm; avoid placing the elbow on the inside where the opponent could potentially attack it with an arm lock.
- If using the second arm, keep the elbow tucked to the inside to prevent submissions.
- Post the foot and use it to push into the back of the opponent's leg while pulling with the hands.
- Apply pressure by kicking the shin out, which increases the pressure on the back of the opponent's knee, potentially leading to a submission.
This technique provides a powerful leg lock submission without the need to take the back, and it can also create opportunities to expose the back further if the opponent reacts to the pressure.
